Brief Profile
The Legal Department is a user department that services all other departments and the Council. It supports matters affecting the smooth running of CPN's operations and issues involving Council and the public, taking into consideration the provisions of the CPN Act.
Core Functions
- Ensuring compliance with the CPN Act.
- Facilitating enforcement of the CPN Act.
- Coordinating review of the CPN Act to ensure it remains updated and adequate.
- Drafting rules and regulations that guide Council activities.
- Facilitating enforcement of Council rules and regulations.
- Drafting, negotiating, and closing contracts, agreements, and memoranda of understanding.
- Facilitating inter-agency relationships with relevant MDAs and stakeholders.
- Monitoring and reporting on lawsuits filed against Council.
- Providing secretariat services and support for Council committees on legal and disciplinary matters.
- Addressing disciplinary issues and providing timely legal advice.
- Liaising with external solicitors to Council on matters affecting Council activities.
